Sri Pravaanundha Brahmendra Saraswatyavadhuta Maha Swamigal

He was born on Dec 01, 1970 to Smt Sundara Kanchana & VipraSri Nagarathina Dikshithar, who belonged to Aankarai, Lalgudi Taluk, Tiruchi District.

Mother belonged to the family of Sri Jnana Dikshithar & Sri Halasyanatha Dikshithar Father belonged to the family of Sri Ramakrishna Bahuyaji & Sri Yegna Subramania Dikshithar

From 1959 to 1991, father was associated with Sadguru Sri Shantananda Mahaswamigal performing numerous Pujas and Homams, and had followed His advice and did lot of works in the Ashramam.

Mahaswamigal, in 1972, had predicted that VipraSri Dikshithar will be blessed with another son, who will be born on Panguni Visaka nakshatram and the boy should be named after Salem OmSri Skandashramam Murugan. His prediction came true and the boy was named as Jnana Skandan. Mahaswamigal also directed VipraSri Dikshithar to entrust the elder son to him for Sanyasa.

With contacts and suggestions from Sri Kanchi Mutt, Upanayanam was performed at the age of five, in Palani. As directed by Sri Paramacharya, he was initiated into Vedic studies in Pathasala instead of School education, and was brought up in vaidhika tradition.

It was decided in April that Sanyasa diksha be given to him. He had by then completed Sri Krishna Yajur Veda Adhyayanam till Kramantam, 5th stage exam Abhijna, in Sanskrit.

On 03rd Nov 1988, along with the then Mudhradhikari of Sringeri Mutt Sri C G Venkatramanan, and with VipraSri Dikshithar, he went to Salem Om Sri Skandashramam.

In the precincts of Sri Ashtaadasabuja Mahalakshmi sannadhi, Mahaswamigal administered the sankalpam for Sanyasam, and Sishya Sweekaram, assisted by the then Adhyapak of Pathasala, Yegna Brahma Nistha Sri Ganesa Ganapatigal.

From 06th Nov 1988 to Sri Sankara Jayanthi on 10th May 1989, he had only karathala biksha in Avadhuta Ashramam.

On 13th Nov 1988, he left from Coimbatore, via Chennai, and reached Kasi on 15th Nov.

From 15th Nov evening, He observed upavasam, jagaranam and performed 10,000 Gayatri Japam, Ashta Srardham, Viraja Homam and other rituals related to Sanyasa diksha.

The Sankalpams were done in the presence of VipraSri Dikshitar, Sri C G Venkatramanan, Coimbatore Ayyappan Puja Sangam Secretary Sri N R Subramaniam and manager Sri Padmanabhan. Vedic Pundits included Swamimalai Sri Viswanatha Sastrigal, his sons Sri Krishnamurthi Ganapathigal and Sri Ramasesha Sharma

On 17th Nov morning, He took to Parmahamsa Ashramam & performed Danda Anushtanam. For three days, he was offered Maadhukara Biksha and performed other anushtanams.

On 20th Nov morning, with the Blessings of Pancha boodhas and Sri Surya, He performed Dhanda, Kamandala and Vastra visarjanam in Ganges and took to Avadhuta Ashramam.

As Avadhuta, he went to Sri Dattatreya Temple, founded by Kasi Sri Karapaatra Swamiji, and offered prayers. He was offered Mahaswamigal’s vastram by Sri C G Venkatramanan.

On 23rd Nov, Skanda Jyothi day, He reached Salem Om Sri Skandashramam. He offered his prayers to Mahaswamigal reciting Avadhuta Upanishad and offered pushpanjali.

Mahaswamigal gave Mahavaakya upadesam, and Diksha name as Pranavaanundha Brahmendra Saraswathyavadhuta Swamigal. As advised by Mahaswamigal, He followed the Avadhuta Sampradhayam and had only Karathala Biksha till Sri Sankara Jayanthi in 1989.

From 23rd Nov to 10th Dec 1988, Mahaswamigal taught Swamiji the Avadhuta Marga Upadesam, in Salem Om Sri Skandashramam.

On 10th Dec evening, Sri Swamiji had darshan of Paramaguru Sri Swayamprakasa Swamigal in Sendhamangalam, and stayed there.

On 11th Dec, the Secretary and Trustees of Pudukottai Sri Bhuvaneswari Peetham welcomed Sri Swamiji and escorted Him to Sri Bhuvaneswari Temple and Sri Judge Swamigal Adhistanam. Sri Swamiji had darshan and offered prayers there.

On 11th Dec evening, around 7:00 pm, Swamiji was given a traditional welcome at Sri Maha Ganapathi Temple, Butterworth Road, Tiruchi.

From that night, till 27th April 1992, Swamiji stayed in the residence of Tiruchi Dr Sri N C Subramaniam and learnt Veda Angams, basic Sanskrit lessons, Kavyas, Dasa Upanishad, Srimad Bhagavad Gita and Brahmasutra Bashyam from Kanchi Mut Vidwan Bashyamani Sri A Sivaramakrishna Sastrigal and Bashyagna Sri Subramania Sharma.

On 27th April 1992 evening, Swamiji reached Pudukkottai and stayed there till 10th August.

As advised by Mahaswamigal, assisted in performing Kumbabisheka and Mandalabisheka Karyakramas.

Sri Swamiji has so far performed more than 1500 Chandi Homams, continuous Chandi Homam for 27 days in 27 places, more than 35 Kumbabishekams in various Government & private run Temples.

In 2006, VipraSri Nagarathina Dikshitar had purchased 92 cents land in Ayyarmalai, in Kulithalai Taluk, Karur District.

In 2018, Sri Swamiji built a temple, in Sakthi Panchayatana form for Sri Paraasodashi Devi (5.5 feet) as per Mahaswamigal’s upadesam.

There are Sannadhis for Sri Gokarna Ganapathi, Sri Jnanapradha Suryan, Sri Sripradha Srikara Mahavishnu, Sri Sakthi Panchasareshwarar, Sri Jnanaskanda Murugan, Sri Dattatreyar, Sri Sakshi Ganapathi, Sri Nagamatha and Sri Avadhuta Guru Paramparya Moorthangal. The temple includes a separate Sri Chandi Homa Yagasalai.

On 02nd July 2018, with the Blessings and presence of PujyaSri Swami Omkarananda, Swamiji performed Mahakumbabishekam.

From Nov 2011 to 22nd April 2021, Swamiji, in association with Pujyasri Swami Omkarananda, has performed many Pujas, vazhipadus and homams in Pudukottai and Theni.

After the Mahasamadhi of PujyaSri Omkarananda Mahaswamigal in May 2021, as desired by the Trustees and devotees, Sri Swamiji took over the responsibilities of Sri Bhuvaneswari Peetham.
